Artist statement
Using the Cyanotype process I explore the themes of; forgotten histories and secrets that have been packed away just waiting to be uncovered, the possibility held within new beginnings with the opening of boxes.
Lace, old damaged and repaired fabrics as well as hand tools such as spanners, pliers and screwdrivers provide me with inspiration and my imagery.
Extended Bio
Tilly is a Fine Art and Textiles Graduate from Moray School of Art, based in Elgin. Influenced by her family’s history with textiles, she explores texture, opacity, and sustainability in her work, often repurposing worn fabrics to highlight their history and value. Inspired by Kintsugi, she embraces imperfection, layering and encasing fabric remnants to examine themes of concealment, memory and identity.
