Approach studio via Tarland Square. Park in square and walk down lane perpendicular to the Premier Foods shop. Lea-Rig is the 2nd house on left. Go round to the back and the studio is in the garden.
My watercolours are inspired by the wild landscapes of northern Scotland. I build on direct observation, memories and intuition to explore the relationship between landscape and emotion. My expressive paintings invite the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and emotional connection to these precious places.
Extended Bio
I have always been passionate about the natural world and initially studied ecology at University, leading to 30 years of work as a research scientist. He retired early from this career in 2019. Since then he has focused on his expressive watercolour paintings. He completed the Portfolio course at Bridge House Art in Ullapool in 2021 and now spends his time out in the field or in his studio. He has exhibited in galleries across Scotland and has had pieces selected for annual shows of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in Edinburgh, the Royal Watercolour Society in London and the Royal Instiute of Painters in Watercolour in London.
