Artist statement

We started our high welfare flock over 40 years ago with 2 registered Shetland lambs - their descendants are still in the flock today! We produce high quality sustainable fleece & yarn from individually named sheep. Come and meet our flock, see the range of naturally coloured & white fleece, different yarn weights & knitted goods!

Extended Bio

SUPPLIERS OF HIGH QUALITY YARN AND RAW UK NATIVE FLEECE FROM OUR OWN FARM. We first started what is now our Fibre Flock over 40 years ago with 2 registered Shetland ewe lambs, one black and one white. We still have their direct descendants in the flock today. Our sheep are bred especially to produce high quality fleece, which is not a by product of the meat industry. A lot of our Fleece Flock never have lambs, but we do pick some out because they have a fleece that we particularly want to cross with a certain type of ram to produce an even more spectacular or sometimes just larger fleece. We have been very successful competing with our fleece, both in the show ring (wool on the hoof classes) and in the wool competition tent, and we have been lucky enough to win a large collection of ribbons including many 1st places. We sell complete fleece or occasionally, if a fleece is very large or valuable by the gram. We remove all dirty or wet wool and as much VM as is visible to the naked eye, which can sometimes take hours. We do not, however always skirt the fleece as we believe you pay for a complete fleece, so that's what you get. A lot of people use the bits they can't spin for felting or stuffing toys etc. We have naturally coloured fleece/yarn available as well as plain and undyed. We are extremely proud of our Beautiful Fleece Flock, and want people to enjoy using our fleece to make beautiful things. Looking after a flock of sheep to a high standard is a 24/7 52 weeks of the year undertaking and every time someone buys and appreciates the quality of one of our fleeces is makes all the hard work worthwhile.
