Artist statement
Im looking forward to meeting you. My sculptures and vessels aspire to highlight the tactile nature of wood with all its defects. You are invited to interact through both touch and sight. Combining traditional and modern techniques to explore textures and form, I hope to foster a deeper connection between the artwork and its audience.
Extended Bio
I was born in Glasgow but grew up in and around London, I now reside in the beautiful north-east of Scotland.
From a young age, I had a passion for crafting with various materials, paper, wood and Plaster of Paris were among favourites. At the age of ten, I stumbled upon photography, which began as a simple hobby and evolved into a significant part of my career.
My journey eventually took me to woodturning,, where I started by creating bowls and hollow forms. This path, over time led me to explore the realm of sculpture.
Upon reflection, I recognise the intrinsic connection between sculpture and photography, both of these arts encapsulate the interplay of light and form in shaping the viewer's experience and understanding.
