Leave Banchory on B974 Fettercairn Road. Take first right to Auchattie and Scolty Hill. After 500 meters turn right down "No Through Road". Single track road for 1.5 miles, seems a long way but keep going. There will be plenty of signage. At the rise of the hill Heckleburn is on your left, a long steading with an arch.
Parking
Plenty of parking on the driveway. Disabled access ok but a bit bumpy

Artist statement
I like to make functional baskets that are used and enjoyed. Exhibiting with Hilary Duncan and Sarah Pooley with daily demonstrations of basketmaking, cerqmics and textiles. Also, collaborating across venues with Mel Shand artist in residence for the Far Orchard Project at the Barn in Banchory.
Extended Bio
Helen uses traditional basket making techniques to produce mostly functional baskets whilst exploring new forms. All the materials she uses for her work is outside her front door. The willow harvest starts in late winter when the leaves have fallen and the sap is down. Plant fibres are gathered over the course of the year with the changing seasons.
Baskets are deeply rooted in human existence, our oldest craft, upon which life once depended. Weaving with willow and plant fibres is an intuitive practice to Helen, reflecting a fundamental human connection to nature.
Helen is a member of the Basketmakers’ Association, the Scottish Basketmakers’ Circle and a Yeoman member of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.
