Mhairi McBeath creates contemporary and joyful ceramic homewares by blending traditional techniques with modern technology. Mhairi begins her design process by digital drawing to sketch out patterns and ideas before throwing the majority of her work on a pottery wheel in her studio in Aberdeen. To ensure each of her pieces are distinctive, Mhairi uses her 3D printer to create unique and specific tools as each project/piece requires. Mhairi then decorates her work using a variety of underglazes and brush on glazes, using a wide spectrum of colours, with each having a specific meaning or purpose.
