Artist statement

Based in Deeside, Aberdeenshire, I paint landscapes in oil, acrylic and mixed media. I hope to capture a little of what makes the everyday places around Scotland special. I paint realistic impressions as well as more abstracted landscapes from memory.

Extended Bio

I enjoy the process and experimental side of painting and hopefully others enjoy the end result! I work in oil, acrylic and mixed media. I paint landscapes from across Scotland, from life or images, and from memories of my work surveying and assessing the character of Scotland's landscapes. Although I've sketched and painted most of my life, a gallery tour of Canada in 2008, visiting the inspirational paintings of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, proved to be a pivotal moment. Later, a career break in Australia in 2010 allowed me to undertake formal training in painting techniques.
