Artist statement
Inspired by the ever-changing coast of Moray, Scotland, my work captures the wild beauty of the sea, landscapes, and the creatures that inhabit them. Using charcoal, pastel, watercolour, gouache, and acrylic, I create expressive, textured pieces that reflect the spirit of the land and its wildlife. My studio is where light, movement, and nature come to life.
Extended Bio
Living and working on the northeast coast of Scotland, I draw inspiration from the ever-changing landscapes, shifting light, and the wildlife that inhabits this rugged environment. My work captures a deep connection to place—whether it's the drama of stormy seas, the quiet watchfulness of coastal creatures, or the textured beauty of the land itself.
Working in a mix of charcoal, pastel, watercolour, gouache, and acrylic, I embrace expressive mark-making and layered textures to bring energy and depth to my paintings. My coastal scenes reflect the raw power and serenity of the sea, while my animal studies—ranging from Highland cattle to seabirds and seals—aim to capture both character and movement.
Drawing is at the heart of my practice. Whether sketching in the field or developing compositions in the studio, I explore the relationship between form and feeling, distilling my observations into pieces that evoke mood, atmosphere, and a sense of place.
My studio, with views of Scotland’s wild coastline, is both a creative sanctuary and a space to share my work with visitors. Here, you can see works in progress, browse finished pieces, and take home a unique artwork that embodies the beauty of Moray’s landscapes and wildlife.
