Extended Bio

Scott Smith is a silversmith and contemporary artisan recognised for his adept command of traditional craft techniques and his innovative design ethos after establishing his practise as one of the Founding Tenants at the Marchmont Silversmithing Workshop. Raised amidst the historic and picturesque landscapes of North-East Scotland, Scott's early exposure to the region's cultural heritage ignited his passion for fine craftsmanship and artistic expression. Driven by a profound reverence for nature and a commitment to preserving age-old techniques, Scott has refined his skills in carving, raising, chasing, and casting to create intricately crafted pieces of handheld silverware. His work seamlessly marries time-honoured craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, resulting in refined creations that resonate with a sense of timeless aesthetic. With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of human culture and the natural world, Scott's creations serve as both functional objects and works of art. His meticulous attention to craftsmanship and his ability to evoke the essence of Scotland's wilderness have earned him widespread recognition and acclaim in artistic circles. As he continues to push the boundaries of silversmithing, Scott remains dedicated to honouring the rich legacy of Scottish craftsmanship while exploring new avenues of creative expression. Through his work, he seeks to inspire and captivate audiences, inviting them to embark on a journey of discovery and appreciation for the enduring beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
