Artist statement
Trina explores the natural environment using a variety of techniques and materials. Woodlands, hedgerows, country lanes and paths, it is the haphazard growth of foliage that fascinates her to experiment with printing techniques and the possibilities of layering monotype within her paintings. Joined in her studio this year by Deb Munro.
Extended Bio
Trina Stark
“Depth and Darkness, Chaotic Growth…Textures and Tangles”
A graduate of Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, Trina Stark works from her studio in the heart of Banchory. She has taught Art & Design in a career spanning more than 30 years and continues to tutor both locally and abroad.
Inspired by her surroundings, Trina explores the natural environment using a variety of techniques and materials. Woodlands, hedgerows, country lanes and paths, all familiar routes on her dog walks, present a continuum of familiarity throughout the changing seasons.
Here, it is the mysterious depth and darkness of the woodlands along with the haphazard growth of foliage that fascinates her. Texture and tangles, impossible complexities, diffuse light, she aims to capture the essence of fleeting glimpses remembered.
Currently Trina is experimenting with printing techniques and enjoying the possibilities of layering monotype within her paintings.
