Artist statement
Karen invites you into her studio to share her experience of rewilding; discovering her creative voice after many years of non practice. Inspired by the nature around her, this multi media collection of artworks is a ‘thank you’ to the forest she sits within. Through techniques such as burning and burying, Karen creates works rich in colour and texture.
Extended Bio
Trained in printmaking at Grays School of art, Karen practiced as an art teacher within residential education for the first few years of her career. As she progressed within education she left her own practice behind. As she approaches retirement, Karen has found great inspiration in nature and was encouraged to express this once again through art practices. Karen experiments with a range of process to explore texture and colour, exploring her creative curiosity. She is an advocate of both nature and art, in the process of recovery and well being.
