Artist statement
I create mixed media textile artworks to share a little bit of sunshine with you. I run a fair bit and photograph lots of the amazing Aberdeenshire sunrises and skies, often reflected on the sea or the wet beach. I work from my photographs and hope that my creations give a little bit of those positive vibes to the people who have them on their walls.
Extended Bio
Born in Derbyshire and now living in Aberdeenshire I am an artist, creative practitioner and teacher of Art & Design. I create unique, tactile artworks that combine painting and stitching in response to my many photographs of skies, beaches and reflections on water; this is where I find most of my inspiration.
I'm an advocate for being outdoors, by the sea, being creative and the positive impact that these things have on our mental health and wellbeing. My current artwork collections include local scenes with sunrises and sunsets, water, beaches and rusted metal. I also collect fishing ropes and nets from the beach to deconstruct and include within my work for an extra dimension and tactile quality. I produce wall art; original art cards, prints, textile jewellery and I have a range of interior accessories with my artworks printed on them.
